At Östrabo ekobacke there have been cultivations since 2010, and 2015-2019 the city farm is KRAV-certified. Ekobacken is an open place where everyone can come to enjoy the environment. The cooperative Macken, which has run the farms in Ekobacken, has arranged study visits, outdoor cooking and a harvest party with, among other things, sales, serving, workshops, lectures, theater and music. Macken went bankrupt in March 2020 and now Växjö Municipality is responsible for the cultivation. The area with vegetables has decreased and green manure is grown on the rest.

The grounds where Ekobacken lies is a part of cultural history environments with national interest and has been since 1935. Ekobacken means the ecological hill.
