Staglaberget is a viewing point with a scenic sight over the city centre and the lake Växjösjön. Staglaberget was one of the four secret communication centers that the Swedish department of defense installed during the time of the cold war. It was finished in 1953 and was run under the Swedish air defense. Until 1985, there were 20 persons working at the communication center. The facility was closed down in 2003 and all military equipment was deinstalled.
Today, Staglaberget is a beautiful viewing point with a scenic sight over the city centre and the lake Växjösjön. A walk up to the hilltop can easily be connected with a visit at Ekobacken, Växjö's urban gardening facilities. Staglaberget offers great possibilities for passionate runners as well. All runners visiting the city should at least once make their way from Linnéparken up to Staglaberget. Apart from the fantastic view over the city and the lake, there is even a cozy meadow where you can stretch, do some yoga or take a quick break before the run can continue.
