Ryttmästaregården
The pearl by the lake Helgasjön.
Ryttmästaregården, the pearl by the lake Helgasjön, is situated by the ruin of Kronoberg, where the steamboat Thor has its harbour. There are seating areas both indoors and outdoors. On the menu you will find Swedish waffles with jam and whipped cream, pastries from Skåres Konditori, sandwiches and warm dishes, salads, etc.
Looking at the construction, it appears that the house is built during the latter half of the 18th century or in the beginning of the 19th century. It was moved in the 1940's from the Hacke mill in Urshult to Kronoberg, under the supervision of architect P. Boberg. The house served as residence for lieutenants in the cavalry regiment of Småland. Today, the house belongs to the Swedish National Heritage Board and is administered by Kulturparken Småland.
