Braås Park is a nature reserve with an exciting cultural history. It has both deciduous and coniferous forests, a boulder-ridge and pastureland. On the eastern side of the area you can find the lake Örken with a 4 kilometer long beach. The nature reserve once consisted of fields and meadows which belonged to Braås manor. There have been farmlands here since the 17th century and an English garden was planted here during the 19th century. When you wander through the reserve, you can see rests of the Manor and the park, such as buildings, memorial stones and avenues. When it comes to the nature, there are old pens here with a few trees. Additionally, there is a boulder-ridge, where pine trees and mountain everlasting grow. There are also meadows, filled with for example pasque flower, spring vetchling, quaking-grass, cowslip and wolf's bane, and the butterflies heliconians fly around here. The nature reserve is also rich in insects, lichen and mushrooms. For example, the small scabious mining bee lives here.
