In Åryd, some 15 km east of Växjö, lies Växjö's oldest iron works and industrial area. The site has an exhibition and a summer café. Guided tours can be made by appointment. The blast furnace, which was built in 1850, and roasting furnace have been preserved. A glass factory and a sawmill have also been situated here, and there is a watermill.
